The reason you shouldn’t buy Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Console is that the game charges you $70 plus taxes, including microtransactions for a SINGLE PLAYER GAME! There are items you can obtain within the game by playing and grinding for them. Since I have 83 hours of gameplay on PC, there are ways to get in-game items without having to pay for microtransactions. However, it will take a lot of time and grinding. Now, I will provide information on what the developers of the game are charging players with their microtransactions.
- They are charging people $0.99 for a “Makeshift Goal Key” to escape the goal (which is jail). You can get a Makeshift Goal Key from an NPC named Dudley for 3000 gold.
- They are charging $0.99 for Wakestones A-D, which is a total of 5 Wakestones. Wakestones are used to revive anyone or yourself within the game. To acquire Wakestones, you can either purchase them from specific NPC shops or collect 3 Wakestone shards to create one complete Wakestone.
- $0.99 for 3 sets of 500 Rift Crystals A-C. $2.99 for 4 sets of 1500 Rift Crystals A-D. $4.99 for 2500 Rift Crystals. The Rift Crystals can be obtained in-game by defeating monsters, opening treasure chests, completing side quests, and allowing other players to hire your pawn (How to Get Rift Crystals (RC) | Dragon’s Dogma 2 (DD2)|Game8). These crystals are also used to hire pawns, which are pawns created by other players.
- $2.99 for a Portcrystal. A Portcrystal is an object that is placed down to be used as a fast travel point, and the only way to fast travel or teleport to it is by using a Ferrystone. The Ferrystone is a very rare item to find in-game since it is used for fast traveling.
- $1.99 for the Art of Metamorphosis. The Art of Metamorphosis is an in-game item that allows you to change the appearance of your Arisen. You can obtain the Art of Metamorphosis at the Vernworth Pawn Guild for 500 Rift Crystals.
- $0.99 for the Harpysnare smoke beacon lure item. The Harpysnare smoke beacons are only useful to obtain the achievement “Harpy Joyride,” in my opinion, nothing more really. Here is the link on where to find them in-game: Dragons Dogma 2: Where To Find The Harpysnare Smoke Beacon (dualshockers.com).
- $1.99 for Ambivalent Rift Incense. This incense is used to change your pawns’ inclinations (their behavior) and can be found at the Vernworth Pawn Guild for 500 Rift Crystals.
- $1.99 for Heartfelt Pendant. This necklace is used to gain affinity (affection from an NPC in the game, forming a relationship). I am unsure if you can find it in-game because my online searches have only yielded references to the deluxe edition or purchasing directly.
